HECS & Yujoo Host Technical Seminar: Care for Your Shores
HECS, in collaboration with Yujoo Environmental Technologies (Korea), successfully organized an impactful technical seminar titled “Care for Your Shores” — a first-of-its-kind knowledge-sharing initiative focused on coastal protection, erosion control, and marine ecosystem preservation. Held as part of HECS’s ongoing commitment to sustainable environmental engineering, the seminar attracted a diverse group of coastal engineers, marine biologists, environmental consultants, and government officials from India and abroad.

Coastal Erosion: A Rising Environmental Concern
India’s 7,500 km coastline is facing serious challenges due to coastal erosion, rising sea levels, and climate change-related tidal surges. Many states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh have seen increasing loss of land and marine biodiversity due to unplanned development and lack of long-term shoreline management.
The “Care for Your Shores” seminar addressed these concerns by introducing proven international practices and innovative shoreline protection technologies, particularly from South Korea, where Yujoo has implemented nature-based erosion control systems successfully.
Key Topics Covered During the Seminar
- Advanced Materials for Erosion Control
Demonstrations of eco-mesh and geo-tube-based shoreline reinforcements that
minimize habitat disruption.
- Sustainable Shoreline Management Models
Case studies from Korea and India, where eco-friendly buffer zones and natural seawall
structures have helped restore balance.
- Marine Ecosystem Preservation
Strategies to protect coral reefs, mangroves, and estuarine biodiversity from runoff and
physical damage.
- Localized Engineering Designs
Presentations on customized coastal protection plans suitable for Indian terrain, with
modular installation potential.
- Collaborative Governance Models
Discussion on how local bodies, tourism departments, and industries can work with tech
partners like HECS for long-term coastal planning.
Global Expertise Meets Local Challenges
Yujoo Environmental Technologies, known for its marine eco-engineering solutions across East Asia, shared its learnings from projects in South Korea, Indonesia, and Japan. Their team presented field-tested erosion control technologies, designed to withstand both monsoon intensity and tidal variations common in the Indian Ocean region.
The collaborative spirit of the seminar was a testament to what can be achieved when local knowledge and global expertise converge with a common goal—saving our shores.
Commitment to Coastal Sustainability
HECS has long recognized the importance of extending its environmental engineering services beyond inland wastewater treatment to include coastal ecosystem conservation. With coastal towns and cities playing a critical role in India’s economy, especially through tourism and fisheries, safeguarding the shoreline is not just an environmental need—it’s an economic imperative.
The “Care for Your Shores” seminar marks the beginning of HECS’s broader initiative to work alongside state governments, ports, coastal development authorities, and hospitality brands to integrate shoreline conservation into project planning.
Upcoming Plans & Partnerships
Following the success of the seminar, HECS and Yujoo plan to:
● Conduct pilot shoreline protection projects in high-erosion zones along India’s west and east coasts
● Support coastal municipalities and beach management boards with technical training and consulting
● Host follow-up workshops involving coastal planners, civil engineering students, and tourism stakeholders
Together, we aim to develop cost-effective, durable, and ecologically safe solutions that balance development with long-term environmental stewardship.
Join the Mission to Protect Our Shores
HECS invites collaboration from:
● Coastal municipalities and panchayats
● Ports and harbors
● Resorts and beachfront properties
● NGOs focused on marine biodiversity
If you’re looking for shoreline protection technologies, coastal STP solutions, or eco-sensitive engineering, our team is here to help.
