HECS – Hubert Enviro Care Systems

Scrubbers - Engineered for Compliance, Efficiency, and Heavy Industry Reliability

In heavy industry, air pollution control isn’t optional—it’s operational risk management. HECS designs and manufactures industrial-grade scrubber systems built to control hazardous gases, acid mists, fumes, vapours, and particulate emissions from high-volume exhaust streams.

A scrubber is more than a filter. It’s a process-engineered pollution abatement system that uses gas-liquid contact (wet scrubbing) and proven separation principles to remove contaminants before discharge—helping you meet environmental requirements, protect workers, and maintain stable plant operations.

If you’re dealing with challenging pollutants such as HCl, HF, SO₂, acid mists, sticky dust, explosive dust, hygroscopic materials, smoke, or fine particulates, HECS delivers custom-built scrubbers tailored to your actual process conditions.

Our Scrubber Technologies: Engineered for Specific Pollutants

1. Scrubbers for Gaseous Pollutants

Target: Acid Gases • Vapors • Fumes • Odors

When the primary challenge is gas-phase contaminants, HECS focuses on maximum gas–liquid contact and the right chemistry to drive absorption and neutralization.

2. Packed Bed Scrubbers (Packed Tower Scrubbers)

Best for: Acid gases and soluble vapors (e.g., HCl, HF, SO₂, acid fumes)

Packed bed scrubbers are the industry standard for gas absorption. The exhaust stream passes through engineered packing media while scrubbing liquid flows counter-currently, creating high-surface-area contact for efficient mass transfer.

Why plants choose packed bed systems:

  • High absorption efficiency for soluble gases.

  • Stable performance in continuous operation.

  • Ideal for multi-stage scrubbing (when needed).

3.Spray Tower Scrubbers (Spray Chamber / Spray Column)

Best for: Large gas volumes, quenching/cooling, soluble gases, coarse particulate
Spray towers use high-efficiency nozzles to atomize liquid into droplets, offering effective gas cooling and contaminant removal with low pressure drop.

Where spray towers perform well:

  • High-temperature gas quenching and humidification.

  • Large volumetric flow rates.

  • Pre-conditioning before a higher-efficiency stage.

4.Plate Type Scrubbers (Tray Scrubbers)

Best for: Compact layouts requiring high washing intensity

Plate/tray scrubbers route gas through liquid layers across trays, increasing contact intensity in a compact footprint—useful where space is limited and absorption needs are high.

5.Scrubbers for Particulate Pollutants

Target: Dust • Mist • Smoke • Fine Particles

When the challenge is particulate, HECS selects designs that use velocity, turbulence, impaction, and centrifugal separation to capture particles—especially where dry filtration is problematic (sticky, explosive, or hygroscopic dust).
Venturi Scrubbers

Best for: Fine particulate, mists, submicronic particles, sticky/hygroscopic/explosive dust
Venturi scrubbers accelerate the gas stream through a throat section, generating strong turbulence and droplet–particle collisions. This makes them highly effective for fine particle capture that can bypass standard filtration.

Advantages in difficult processes:

  • Strong collection at small particle sizes.

  • Handles challenging dust behavior (adhesive, reactive, hygroscopic).

  • Suitable for high loading where robust designs are required.

6. Cyclonic Scrubbers (Wet Cyclone)

Best for: Larger/coarser particulate as pre-cleaning or combined duty

Cyclonic systems use centrifugal force to remove larger particles and reduce loading on downstream stages, improving stability and reducing maintenance burden.

Why Choose HECS Scrubber Systems?

HECS scrubbers are engineered-to-application—built for real plant conditions, not idealized lab scenarios.
Custom-Built for Your Flow Rate and Process Conditions: Every scrubber is sized to your actual gas volume, pollutant load, temperature, and variability, so you avoid overpaying for unnecessary capacity or under-sizing that causes poor capture.

  • Handles Industrial Fluctuations: Processes are rarely steady. HECS systems are designed for tolerance to fluctuating gas flow and load while maintaining reliable collection performance.

  • Uniform Liquid Distribution (Critical for Efficiency): Uniform distribution reduces channeling in packed sections, prevents dry zones and “hot spots,” and minimizes local abrasion and premature wear.

  • High-Efficiency Mist Control: Where required, HECS integrates mist eliminators to reduce droplet carryover—supporting better stack conditions and downstream equipment protection.

  • Built for Longevity in Corrosive Environments: HECS selects materials based on scrubbing chemistry and corrosion profile, including options such as FRP, PP, specialized plastics, stainless steel grades, and rubber-lined constructions.

  • Maintenance-Friendly Design: Access provisions include nozzle inspection/cleaning access, packing access for replacement, and inspection doors and service platforms.
